Stop by on July 3rd for our Red, White and Blue 250 Tree Giveaway! ❤️🤍💙 Get in the holiday spirit with a tree! 🌳The recycling center will be closed for maintenance during this time, but the trees will be available for pick up outside the Stella Roberts Recycling Center from 9a.m to 1p.m.

Choose from:

Red: Red Oak or Flameleaf Sumac
White: White Live Oak
Blue: Elderberry
Maximum 2 trees per attendee.

🌱Native Plant of the Week!🌱

This week’s native plant of the week is Green Milkweed (Asclepias viridis)! Green Milkweed is a native perennial that is located in the southeastern region of the US and is highly common in Southeast Texas. This species is a critical food source for monarch caterpillars🐛🦋 and serves as an important nectar source for multiple pollinator species (bumblebees, honeybees, butterflies, etc.). They can be identified by their dense pale green/white flowers and large seed pods.

Fun Fact: Toxins in Green Milkweed that is consumed by the larvae make monarch caterpillars poisonous to birds!
