Our guest speaker today at Kiwanis was one of our own members, Nancy Claypool, Branch Manager at the Pearl Public Library. She spoke about the many programs and services that the library offers that most people aren’t aware of. Did you know that our library has two Notaries on staff to notarize documents Monday through Saturday? The library offers online ACT prep, CDL certification, a LEGO Club, a disability support group and much more!

We were privileged today to have our Kiwanis Lieutenant Governor in Division 5, Angel Ivey, as the guest speaker. Angel lives in Memphis and her territory covers from Savannah Tennessee down to Pearl and Rankin County. Angel travels around to Kiwanis clubs to help them learn about new ways to serve and many opportunities for grants and other assistance from Kiwanis International.

Our guest speaker today was Rankin County Justice Court Judge Bo Agnew. He has served in that capacity for the last two terms. He also currently serves as a municipal Judge in Terry, MS, Raymond, MS and as Judge Pro Tem in Flowood. Additionally he is currently serving as an elected Commissioner for the Mississippi Bar Association. Judge Agnew is a candidate for Rankin County Chancery Court Judge. The election is scheduled for November 3rd.

The Kiwanis Club Golf Tournament was held Friday June 26 at the Pearl Municipal Golf Course. Thanks to the many team sponsors, hole sponsors, players and Parks & Rec Director Scooter Myers and his dedicated staff for helping to make this tournament a huge success. Congrats to 3rd Place team Pickering Firm; 2nd Place team Representing Alderman Casey Foy and big congrats to the BankPlus team on winning the 1st Place title. Jason Dyess, Christopher James, Marshall Krantz and Todd Burkes all won the closest to the hole competition and Craig Foshee won the prize for the longest drive. We didn’t get everyone’s pic today but another post will follow tomorrow with more pics.

The Kiwanis Club of Pearl Golf Tournament is this Friday and we have 2 flights. Club members are needed at the golf course to help with this event. Please let us know that you plan to volunteer morning (7-7:30am) or afternoon (12:00) by calling or texting Kathy at 601-946-9611. Thank you to Mayor Jake Windham who has secured 23 teams for the morning and afternoon flights.
