The Caregiver Foundation TCF is a Hawaii-based non-profit providing practical and emotional support to caregivers and seniors

The Caregiver Foundation is a local, non-profit organization that works to support Caregivers and Individuals Needing Care through a variety of services. From producing educational materials and resources to assuming daily money management (bill-paying) tasks, to providing speakers for seminars and meetings and overseeing major restoration cleaning, TCF works hard to provide caregivers the resources they need to survive their journey and "help those you love".

Give Aloha, Foodlands program to help raise funds for Hawai'i's non-profit sector, starts on Tuesday, September 1st!

HOW TO PARTICIPATE IN GIVE ALOHA

This year, The Caregiver Foundation is excited to participate in Give Aloha, Foodland’s Annual Community Matching Gifts program! You can support by making a donation at any Foodland, Sack N Save, or Foodland Farms store during the month of September. 100% of your gift will go directly to our organization, and Foodland will match a portion of your contribution.

Here’s how to support The Caregiver Foundation at checkout:
1) Enter your Maikaʻi phone number or present your Maikaʻi card.
2) Tell the cashier: “I’d like to make a $________* donation to The Caregiver Foundation, #78595.
3) Review your receipt to confirm the organization name and donation amount is correct.

*Customers may donate any dollar amount up to $249.

When Conversations Become Difficult: The Power of Gentle Redirection

Not every difficult conversation needs to be corrected, explained, or solved right away. Sometimes, the most compassionate response is simply to gently guide the conversation in a different direction. 🫶

When a topic begins to cause anxiety, confusion, or distress, try shifting toward something familiar and comforting—such as a favorite memory, shared interest, or meaningful experience.

💬 Try this:

“Those were good times growing up. If you could be 15 or 30 years old again, which would you choose?”

Then share a memory of your own:

“I remember how much I enjoyed going to the movies with you.”

This simple approach can help the conversation feel natural rather than forced.

🌺 Remember: The goal isn't always to correct the conversation. Sometimes, it’s to protect the connection.

Connection matters more than correction.

We have had several inquiries during this "Make a Will" month. Here are the basic steps:
How to leave a gift to The Caregiver Foundation, Inc. in your Will or Trust.
1. Choose to leave a legacy to The Caregiver Foundation, Inc. FEIN 26-2548300
2. Decide on an amount, a specific asset, or a percentage share of your estate.
3. Work with your Attorney to create or update your Will or Trust.
4. Update your retirement plan, life insurance policy, or bank/investment account to name The Caregiver Foundation as a POD (Payable on Death) or TOD (Transfer on Death) beneficiary designation.
5. Let us know you have made this gift! We want to acknowledge and thank you for your generous support.
