Yes we know it's the end of August & yes we know you're looking for the September calendar. We're working on it. Just note after tomorrow (Fri Aug 28th) we're taking a week off in the kitchen to clean, stock & think about any changes to the menu! We'll see you all for Wing Night Wed, Sept 9th! That's one thing that won't be changing! We'll announce calendar as soon as we get er done!

WARNING, MEMBERS!
We have been targeted by scammers, spammers and bots today.

Between 7:30-9:00 this morning, thousands of spam comments were left on our posts dating back more than six months. (Edited to Add: they started again around 1 and continued every few seconds until 4. Please DO NOT RESPOND to these comments, not even to tag us. Just report to Facebook.)

They each had the same wording describing a "national t-shirt," which we do not have, with a link, which you SHOULD NOT click! (Edited to add: they have changed the wording to VFW Auxiliary; it is the same spam/scam.)

After each one, there was a comment or two in which many members were tagged by the scammer.

These posts came from multiple accounts, with no one account posting more than once, which makes it difficult for us to flag, block and delete these comments. We are working hard to get rid of and report all of these, but it can be difficult to catch them all, especially as new ones are coming in.

Please DO NOT CLICK ON LINKS in the comments of posts unless they are posted by VFW Auxiliary National Headquarters' official page.

Also, DO NOT purchase VFW Auxiliary shirts or other materials from third-party vendors. Best case scenario, you are purchasing from an unauthorized vendor and receive a low-quality product, and worst-case scenario you pay money, never receive the product and your credit card information is compromised.

🟠 VETERANS: AGENT ORANGE WASN’T JUST ABOUT VIETNAM

A lot of Veterans still believe you had to serve boots-on-the-ground in Vietnam to qualify for presumptive Agent Orange exposure. That is NOT the full story.

The PACT Act expanded the locations where the VA presumes qualifying Veterans were exposed to Agent Orange or other tactical herbicides.

📍 PRESUMPTIVE LOCATIONS & DATES INCLUDE:

🇻🇳 Republic of Vietnam
January 9, 1962 – May 7, 1975
This can also include qualifying service on Vietnam’s inland waterways and certain Blue Water Navy service within 12 nautical miles.

🇹🇭 Thailand — U.S. or Royal Thai military bases
January 9, 1962 – June 30, 1976

🇱🇦 Laos
December 1, 1965 – September 30, 1969

🇰🇭 Cambodia — Mimot or Krek, Kampong Cham Province
April 16, 1969 – April 30, 1969

🇬🇺 Guam or American Samoa, including qualifying territorial waters
January 9, 1962 – July 31, 1980

🏝️ Johnston Atoll — including qualifying service aboard a ship that called there
January 1, 1972 – September 30, 1977

🇰🇷 Korean DMZ
Qualifying service in or near the DMZ between September 1, 1967 – August 31, 1971.

⚠️ WHY DOES “PRESUMPTIVE” MATTER?

If your service meets VA’s requirements for one of these locations and time periods, VA may presume you were exposed. That means you generally don’t have to prove the actual exposure occurred.

And if you have a recognized Agent Orange presumptive condition—such as prostate cancer, Type 2 diabetes, ischemic heart disease, Parkinson’s disease, hypertension, certain leukemias or other qualifying conditions—that presumption could make a major difference in your VA claim.

👉 Don’t automatically assume you don’t qualify because you never served in Vietnam.

Pull out your DD214, personnel records, orders, travel records, ship records, or unit history and check where you served and WHEN.

Some Veterans may have been sitting on a potential claim for decades without realizing their duty location is now recognized.

Do you have a middle school or high school student? The Vfw Post 9977 has a scholarship opportunity for your student! Local public schools are being sent the info, but we want to tap private and homeschool students too! You can download the applications at www.VFW.org/community/youth-and-education/youth-scholarships
Not in our area? Your local VFW has the same opportunity with the same application! I encourage 6th - 8th to do the Patriot Pen and 9-12th to do the Voice of Democracy. Last year we awarded $300 to scholarship winners!
