One of BCSN's biggest programs is our Hope Closet. Here we offer free wigs, breast prosthetics, mastectomy bras, and other medical supplies to breast cancer survivors. If a woman cannot afford these items, she can make an appointment and have a certified fitter supply her with what she needs. Secondary breast cancer, or metastatic breast cancer, occurs when cancer has spread beyond its point of origin in the breast. These are common signs and symptoms that you may experience if it has spread to other parts of your body. We need to be aware of these symptoms because if we experience these after a diagnosis, we need to immediately let our doctors know. Our local Support Group meets in Peachtree City today. We meet once a month on the 3rd Tuesday at 1pm in the downstairs conference room at our office at 23 Eastbrook Bend. Just follow the pink. We welcome survivors at any stage in their journey for a light lunch and some fellowship. When you are doing your monthly self-exams, do you know what the things are that should be concerning to you? Take a look at these and then share this with your friends. Something that you may think is a passing thing may be a sign of breast cancer- like swelling or darkening of your breast and new pain in a spot that does not go away. It is better to be safe than sorry- so go get these things checked out by your doctor. www.BCSN.me
