Yesterday we had some trees cut down on our property by Royal Tree LLC and one of them had a squirrels nest with 3 babiess. Leah brought me them so later on I was able to place them on a nearby tree for mom to get them and they were successfully reunited by this morning! 🥹

Squirrels are excellent mothers and it is common for them to come back for their babies, even if already handled by a human! (Which is a common myth that animals will reject their babies if our scent is on them).

If you find a squirrel(s) on the ground, whether they fell out, the tree was cut down, or the nest blown out; fixate a box to the tree or nearest tree and place the squirrel’s in them for the next 12-20ish hours to allow mom a chance to come back. If she is alive and able, most of the time she will! Sometimes, squirrels may even adopt other babies.

I’ve had the pleasure of taking care of these Red Headed Woodpeckers the past two days ♥️

I have never rehabbed birds (other than domestics), nor am I licensed too.
Hats off to all bird rehabbers! These guys are to be fed every 30 minutes from dawn to dusk!

10/10 experience. It was great being able to feed them and watch them exist. Being yelled at every 30 minutes? Not so much 🤣

They’re now with our friends at Carolina Wildlife Rehabilitation Center

Our boy passed naturally 🤍

He was very loved during the short time he was with us. Someone suggested the name Amal, meaning Hope - so that’s what he was named.

Thank you all for your care and support.

Found this dog wheelchair on marketplace for $5! In our local area too!
Praise God!

I’m just testing things. This doesn’t mean it’s a fix to his problems or that it’s sustainable. His front legs aren’t strong enough to fully stand or be mobile right now. (I’m holding him up in the pictures). But maybe he’ll get there?
I’m taking it a day at a time.

Update: NEED MET. THANK YALL!!
He has a spinal injury. More than likely occurred from being in a pasture with multiple animals. He will never regain use of his back legs and the paralysis causes a lack in emptying his bladder. His prognosis isn’t great and the vet does recommend euthanasia.
I haven’t decided how to move forward at this time. He’s still very full of energy and such a happy goat but I have to reason with what quality of life he will have. For now, we will continue to care for and love on him.

This guy has so much fight in him.

I called the vet yesterday to schedule him and was told the bill was going to be around $300.
My first reaction was to transfer him to another rescue. We haven’t fundraised in over a year and a half. We don’t have that amount.
I’ve reached out to a few rescues, to no avail. So this morning - I scheduled him anyways.
He has an appointment at 11:30.

I get up every morning, put him in his sling, and this is what I see. A baby goat with an incredible will to live. A baby goat full of personality that just wants to play.

Can you spare $5 or $25 to go towards his vet bill?
I’m going to be real… the possibility of the Vet suggesting euthanasia is high. This guys not peeing and that’s terrifying. But I can not in good conscience, not give him a fighting chance.

This sweet boy just arrived a couple hours ago.

He has lost use of his back legs.
Sadly this isn’t the first time we’ve gotten in a goat with this issue.
We’re working extra hard to rule out the cause and hopefully get his abilities back.
This could occur from deficiencies, infection, injury, neurological, or even over feeding.

Hims so handsome and sweet though 💙
