BLM Idaho Falls District mourns the lost of their friend and Hotshot, Jared Merrill, who passed away in a motorcycle accident on October 27, 2024.

After serving his country in the Army, Jared found his calling as a wildland firefighter, working on an engine crew and this past year as a member of the Snake River Hotshots. He will be missed by wildland fire family and community.

Hello Everyone,

Conditions are looking favorable to burn this Monday November 20th. We are planning on the Trexler North Range burn Unit #1 on attached map. We will be starting burn operations around 10:00. The entire north range will be closed to public access on Monday, and likely all day Tuesday. Partial closures of trails may remain into Wednesday.

The GovDelivery fire notification system is now being utilized for all prescribed burns in the SE Region. The system sends either an email or text message (not both) to everyone who signs up for the notification. Click on the following link to sign up: Pennsylvania Game Commission - Prescribed Fire (govdelivery.com) You can select multiple counties. You will be notified of all PGC prescribed burns within the counties that you select. You can also find a link to sign up at the top of the PGC Prescribed Fire web page. The notifications are pretty basic, but include the general area the burn will occur and a link to the PGC prescribed fire website. More detailed information about the burn can be found on the PGC prescribed fire website.

This tool is open to anyone, so please encourage anyone you think may be interested to sign up. Also, please forward this email to any others that could help spread the word to the public.

Final go decision and notification will go out on Sunday via Govdelivery.com.

Thanks
