Meet this week’s Payson High School Athletes of the Week - Cecily and Sydney!

🎾 Cecily Hancock – Girls Tennis
As the Lions’ #1 Varsity Singles player, Cecily competes with relentless effort and has earned numerous wins this season, leading to a well-deserved trip to the State Tournament! 🏆 Beyond her performance, she’s a kind and encouraging teammate who lifts up those around her. Her work ethic, sportsmanship, leadership, and heart set an example for the entire program. 🎾👏

⚽ Sydney Muhlestein – Girls Soccer
Sydney has been a strong and steady presence for the Lions, helping the team get off to a fantastic 3–0 start this season. When the team later hit a slump, Sydney stepped up as a leader, helping her teammates stay focused on improving and moving forward. Her determination, leadership, and commitment to her teammates make her an important part of the Lions! 💪🦁

Say hello to our newest Payson High School Athletes of the Week - Grady Carter and Jaxen Jensen!

⛳ Grady Carter – Boys Golf
Grady has been swinging it strong, posting the best score of the year for the team! But what makes him stand out goes beyond his performance on the course. Grady is a fantastic teammate who brings a positive attitude and consistently encourages the players around him. His combination of skill, positivity, and support makes him a great example of what it means to be a Lion!

🏃‍♂️ Jaxen Jensen – Cross Country
Jaxen continues to make his mark at Payson. After placing 11th at State in the 800m last spring, he enters this year as the 2nd-fastest returning runner in the state in that event. He also holds Payson’s Junior Class Record in the 800m and is now the 6th-fastest senior to run the 5K at PHS. His hard work and continued improvement are helping lead the XC team as they chase a State Championship appearance.

Congrats to the Payson High School Athletes of the Week, Michelle and Brooklyn!

🎾 Michelle Robbins – Girls Tennis
As a first doubles varsity player, Michelle leads by example both on and off the court. She recently took time to talk with her teammates about staying motivated and developing mental strength during competition. Her positive leadership, commitment to her teammates, and desire to make those around her better show the impact she has on the entire team. 🎾💪

🏐 Brooklyn Shirley – Girls Volleyball
As the Lions’ setter, Brooklyn works tirelessly to put the ball in the perfect spot for her hitters. Early in the team’s third game of the season, she reached an incredible milestone: 1,000 career assists! 👏 She’s already on her way to 1,500—all while maintaining a 4.0 GPA and taking college classes. Her hard work and commitment shine both on the court and in the classroom. 💯

⚽ Genevieve “Genna” Mills – Girls Soccer
Genna has stepped up and gone all in for her team. According to MaxPreps, when she’s in the game, she has helped hold opponents to an average of just 0.5 goals per game. Her reliability, commitment, and willingness to step up have earned the trust of her teammates and made a big impact on the Lions. 💪⚽

🏈 Valentin Sanchez – Football
Valentin had a huge game against Kearns, scoring 3 touchdowns, including a kick return touchdown! But his impact goes beyond the scoreboard. His work ethic and commitment to accountability, discipline, teamwork, trust, and positivity make him a great teammate and leader both on and off the field. 💪🦁

A new year of Payson High School Athletes of the Week starts with two great Lions - Tucker and Halle!

⛳️Tucker Bushnell - Boy’s Golf Team
Tucker has stepped up as a true team leader on and off the course. He brings a great attitude every day, encourages his teammates, and is always willing to help those around him succeed. His positive leadership and commitment to his team make him a great example of what it means to be a Lion!

🏃‍♀️ Halle Nielson - Girl’s Cross Country
After working her way back from an injury last track season, Halle came back stronger than ever. She broke the 400m school record and placed 6th at the State Meet. Now in cross country, she opened her senior year by placing 7th out of more than 200 runners at Payson’s home meet with a huge PR of 20:12! 🔥

Buffalo Wild Wings GO is officially OPEN in Payson! 🦬🪽

And Payson showed up. 🙌 Community members camped overnight and arrived early to be among the first 50 customers to score free wings for a year!

Owners Nathan and Kacey are excited to serve Payson and become part of the community. They chose to bring BWW GO here because they love the support found in small towns—and they want to give that same support back.
