Thank you, Ann Marie Kelso. There has been a lot of buzz about the Argus story.
The Argus Observer recently published an article discussing whether Payette County could eventually become home to a data center.
I want to emphasize that there are currently no active applications before the County. The discussion arose after a real estate company advertised property for sale. As noted in the article:
“The listings do not mean a data center has been approved or that a company has announced plans to build one in Payette County. Both listings say any development would be subject to a buyer’s investigation, due diligence and needed approvals, including zoning, utility access and infrastructure.”
That does not mean we should ignore the issue. Data centers raise important questions regarding infrastructure, utilities, land use, and long-term planning which must be addressed.
However, I have received several questions about upcoming hearings. At this time, there are no hearings scheduled because there are no applications pending before Payette County. If an application is submitted in the future, it would go through the applicable public review process, including any required public hearings, which include opportunities for public comment
