A beautiful day for golf. The Fruitland Chamber of Commerce tourny going on now. Stop by hole 14 and say hello. Good to see so many teams supporting our local chambers. Let's talk about becoming a member of SREDA and supporting economic development in our area.

Thank you, Ann Marie Kelso. There has been a lot of buzz about the Argus story.

The Argus Observer recently published an article discussing whether Payette County could eventually become home to a data center.

I want to emphasize that there are currently no active applications before the County. The discussion arose after a real estate company advertised property for sale. As noted in the article:

“The listings do not mean a data center has been approved or that a company has announced plans to build one in Payette County. Both listings say any development would be subject to a buyer’s investigation, due diligence and needed approvals, including zoning, utility access and infrastructure.”

That does not mean we should ignore the issue. Data centers raise important questions regarding infrastructure, utilities, land use, and long-term planning which must be addressed.

However, I have received several questions about upcoming hearings. At this time, there are no hearings scheduled because there are no applications pending before Payette County. If an application is submitted in the future, it would go through the applicable public review process, including any required public hearings, which include opportunities for public comment

Not sure where your next chapter in life is going to be. Here's a great opportunity to try a new trade or two.

Two days. Five trades. One project the student takes home.

The TVCC Trades Summer Camp is back at the Advanced Energy & Trade Center in Ontario, OR — June 29 & 30, 2026. High school students, ages 16 and up will get hands-on experience in building construction, electrical, plumbing, advanced energy, and facilities maintenance — every student rotates through every station.

By the end of day two, each student will have used real tools, real materials, and real techniques from all five trades to assemble a project they keep. They'll walk out with the build, a starter tool kit, and a real sense of what these careers look like up close.

💼 Free of charge
🥪 Lunch provided both days
🛠 Tool kit + project to keep
📅 Register by June 10 — only 30 spots available!
