Wiggle Walkers is a company started in 2018 named after Lucy, one of founder Ariana´s pitbulls. Lucy´s butt wiggles when she walks, or in the vet’s words, “she just has a lot of swagger.”

“I grew up in foster care in Connecticut… What would really upset me was moving away from the pet. I´d really bond with the family pet and then I'd have to move on… The whole goal here is eventually to have a physical location so we can have youth aging out of foster care get some job skills. And hopefully pair them with a pet that they can age out with some stability.”

“We have 8 staff. It's all women plus. We don't have turnover… we didn't want that. We wanted to be able to pair people with one or two walkers and those were their people and those walkers don´t have to, you know, have housing or food insecurity and have to get like 8 other jobs to pay their bills… starting to pay is 70%. In addition to paying them better we do scheduling based on geography.

So we have really phenomenal staff and they have a lot of input on how we do things if we are rolling out new stuff.

I'm most proud of finding that balance between client satisfaction and staff satisfaction. I think we´ve got a good balance going.”

Wiggle Walkers offers pet care, not just limited to dogs, but is extended to rabbits, fish, cats, bearded dragons and more! Ariana and her team take great care of the animals they work with, starting with a free meet & greet to ensure it is a good fit for both the pet and the staff. “I started doing yoga in 2011. It was my last year before I graduated high school. I just picked up a book on the Buddha and I got into meditation. And after I started meditating I realized there’s more practices to meditation, like yoga... it helped me so much-- this month of May is Mental Health Month. It really helped me in my state and condition of health. And I felt I really have to share this with people...

Quality breathing leads to quality life. I just want people to learn how to breathe more efficiently so that they can prosper in their life...

When you think of Buddha you think of Siddhartha Guatamo, the guy from India who became enlightened under a tree, and bloom is really a flower when it blooms. So that’s what Buddha Bloom means--for you to come back into yourself and for the flower of your mind to blossom into a full blown, really bright lotus flower.”

Anthony´s favorite yoga practice is Ashtanga and his favorite pose is between a headstand and handstand. He recommends the book, Thought Power by Swami Sivananda to “get a brief overview of not just the [yoga] positions and the breathing, but the philosophy.”

Since it is Mental Health Awareness Month, we asked Anthony what he does when he’s stressed, “I have to move the body. I have to get out of my mind. I start to move. I do the really fast paced kind of yoga to get it all out of me... and come out with a new perspective.”

Yesterday at Social Enterprise Greenhouse, Central Falls's very own COVID Clinic hero, Dr. Eugenio Fernandez Jr., the creator of Asthenis Pharmacy, presented his pitch for the Vice President of the United States Kamala Harris, United States Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo, and the Rhode Island delegation. He was also joined by three incredible Rhode Island entrepreneurs: Sandra Enos of Giving Beyond the Box, Sterling Stallman of Incredabowl Food Truck, and Philip Trevvett of Urban Greens Co-op Market. Congratulations to Social Enterprise Greenhouse and all of the entrepreneurs!
