Midwest Mission

Midwest Mission We send disaster relief, health, education, & micro business resources to those in need. Midwest Mission provides a "hands on" mission experience.

Midwest Mission provides opportunities for individuals and groups of all walks of life, denominational backgrounds, abilities, and ages to help provide disaster relief, education and medical supplies to those in need locally, nationally and internationally. For those receiving the supplies, we are bringing hope that someone somewhere loves them.

Wednesday was an exciting day at Midwest Mission as we sent off an ambulance that will support emergency responders in Honduras.

This ambulance was generously donated by the Maine Township Fire Department and MABAS District 3 in Northern Illinois. The donation came through relationships built by Midwest Mission Ambassadors at Glenview UMC in Glenview, Illinois, who have been instrumental in raising awareness about the ongoing need for fire and emergency gear and equipment.

One of those Ambassadors, Rev. Marilyn Robb, helped connect Midwest Mission with the Glenview and Niles Fire Departments last year, resulting in both a fire truck and ambulance being sent to Guatemala.

Remembering the impact of that previous donation, Chief Greiner of the Maine Township Fire Department looked at the ambulance sitting unused in his lot and decided it could make a greater difference elsewhere.

After learning how this vehicle could support emergency response efforts in a developing country, Chief Greiner with IK from the district chose to donate it to Midwest Mission.

As Midwest Mission’s 14th international shipment of 2026 traveled to Jamaica, it carried supplies destined for several different ministries, including a prison ministry that serves men with dignity, compassion, and the promise of a new beginning.

Prison ministry is about more than meeting physical needs. It is about reminding people they are not forgotten and that transformation is possible. Through a faithful partnership with Food For The Poor, Midwest Mission is able to support ministries that offer encouragement and practical care to individuals seeking a brighter future.

A few years ago, a few staff members traveled to Jamaica to visit with people who have received gifts from Midwest Mission. One of the places they visited was a prison where Food For The Poor does prison ministry.

“You could feel the presence of the Lord in that prison,” said Chantel Corrie, Executive Director, thinking back on her visit. “They were teaching the inmates different trades so that they had opportunities for work when they would get out of prison. You could tell that the ministry was making a big impact on not only the inmates, but the correctional officers as well.”
