We are grateful to share that our Georgetown County Detention Center Program has been renewed for another year of support through the South Carolina Opioid Recovery Fund (SCORF) Continuation Grant.

This continued support allows Damascus House to keep serving men in Georgetown County with structured, evidence-based, Christ-centered recovery programs that restore hope and dignity.

We want to thank our dedicated staff, volunteers, and community partners who make this work possible, as well as everyone who continues to pray for the men participating in the program. Together, we are witnessing lives being changed and families being rebuilt through the power of faith.

We are celebrating an inspiring milestone from our Georgetown County Detention Center Program.

One of our program graduates recently completed the Dunklin Memorial eleven-month residency program and has now been accepted into Dunklin’s Servant Leadership Training Program. This remarkable journey from incarceration to leadership reflects the power of God’s grace and the effectiveness of faith-based recovery.

Every story like this reminds us why Damascus House exists. Transformation is not only possible but happening every day through consistent guidance, faith in Christ, and the support of caring mentors.

Strong partnerships within the community make lasting transformation possible.

On August 26, Damascus House leaders Don Williams and Jim Coggin attended the Georgetown Behavioral Health Collaborative meeting hosted by Judge Leigh Boan and joined by Dr. Renee Causey. This gathering brought together leaders from the faith, behavioral health, and judicial communities to strengthen recovery efforts across Georgetown County.

Conversations like these help ensure that those struggling with addiction receive the support they need through collaboration, compassion, and shared commitment. Damascus House is honored to be part of this important work and will continue building partnerships that connect faith-based recovery with broader community resources.

This year has been one of incredible growth for Damascus House Ministry.

Our Georgetown County Detention Center (GCDC) Program has now served more than 40 men and delivered over 1,400 inmate contact days of Christ-centered instruction, counseling, and support. Each session represents a moment of transformation, healing, and renewed hope.

Program leaders Victor Wilson and Dillon Dowler have continued to guide this work with compassion and consistency. Their dedication has helped build a program that not only provides structure and accountability but also nurtures a genuine path toward redemption and recovery.

We are deeply thankful for their leadership and for the continued prayers and support of those who believe in this ministry’s mission to restore lives and families through faith.

On August 29, 2025, we were honored to welcome Shawn Palmeter , Director of Dunklin Memorial Church's Martin County Jail Program, to our Georgetown County Sheriff's Office Program.

Shawn joined the morning session led by Vic Wilson and Dillon Dowler, our Damascus House GCDC Program Leaders, and shared his encouragement about the progress and impact this program has made over the past eighteen months.

We are grateful for Shawn’s visit and for his kind words recognizing the dedication of our team and participants.

We did it - together!

Thanks to your incredible generosity, we exceeded our goal and raised $25,189 during our 90-day Matching Donation Campaign. Because of your support, we unlocked the full $25,000 matching gift, bringing the total impact to over $50,000 for Damascus House Ministries.

This funding directly supports our work with men facing addiction and life-controlling issues, helping them find stability, healing, and hope through faith-based recovery.

To every individual who gave, shared, or prayed for this campaign, thank you. Your gift is a powerful investment in transformed lives.

And to the generous local couple who quietly pledged the $25,000 match at the start of this campaign:
Although you’ve chosen to remain anonymous, your compassion and vision have multiplied far beyond your original gift. On behalf of our entire team and the men we serve, thank you for believing in this mission.

We look forward to sharing the impact your contributions will continue to make in the weeks and months ahead.

Earlier this summer, a generous couple pledged to match every donation to Damascus House, up to $25,000. Their goal is to support men on the path to recovery from addiction and life-controlling issues.

That means when you give, your donation is doubled. A gift of $50 becomes $100. A gift of $100 becomes $200.

With just two weeks remaining in this 90-day campaign, we’ve raised $18,639 toward our goal. We’re now only $6,461 away from fully unlocking the match.

Every gift brings us closer to helping more men rebuild their lives through faith-based recovery. Will you help us finish strong?
