We will begin flushing hydrants on Monday, June 22nd. Flushing our hydrants allows us to perform yearly maintenance, get pressure measurements, and document over all conditions. We want to thank you for your patience, as this process should only take a few weeks to complete.

International Firefighters' Day (IFFD) is observed on May 4, to honour firefighters for their service internationally, remember firefighters who lost their lives during service and to commemorate firefighters killed in the September 11 attacks. It was established after a proposal by female Australian firefighter, JJ Edmondson, was made on January 4, 1999, following the deaths of five firefighters fighting a bushfire in Australia on 2 December, 1998.

Your Pawhuska Fire Department is looking for a few good folks to join our team. We will be holding Volunteer tryouts on Saturday May 9th, 2026 at 0900 at the Pawhuska Fire Department located at 900 Lynn Avenue. This tryout will include several events design to test your physical fitness, cognitive ability, and mental agility. So..If you live with in 10 miles of the fire department, and are looking for a way to make a difference in your community, this is your chance to join our team.

Thank you for your patience during these test. We are aware that some of the sirens sound a little quieter than expected, and will have the service technician double check them for you.

The National Weather Service and NOAA are predicting the possibility of severe weather between 6pm and 10pm tonight. Being prepared and having a plan is the best way to keep you and your family safe during any severe weather. We always have additional resources on standby during these types of events and will be ready to respond no matter the situation.
