Yesterday was a day we wish was just a bad dream.

As firefighters and as members of this community, we can’t put into words how proud we are of everyone involved.

We want to recognize Kirk Moore. What he did took courage. In a moment where it mattered most, he stepped up — and that’s something that won’t be forgotten. He is a true HERO!

Our brothers in blue — PVPD, GCSO, and OHP — showed up and handled business the way they always do. Calm, professional, and ready to protect our people.

The school staff did an incredible job in a situation no one ever wants to face. Their ability to stay calm and take care of those kids speaks volumes.

And to our community — thank you. You trusted us. You stayed calm. You gave us the space to do what we’re trained to do, and that made all the difference.

Yesterday could’ve been a lot worse. But because of the people in this town — it wasn’t.

Proud to serve this community. Proud to be a part of it.

🚒 Firefighter Friday Spotlight – Mike Lee 🚒

This week we are proud to highlight Volunteer Firefighter Mike Lee, who has dedicated 32 years of service to the Pauls Valley Fire Department.

Mike is married to Tammy Lee, and together they have two adult children, Jason Lee and Toni Scott, along with a whole crew of grandkids who keep them busy.

When asked what he enjoys most about being a firefighter, Mike said helping people in their darkest hours. That servant’s heart is exactly what makes volunteer firefighters so important to our community.

🍔 Favorite Food: A good hamburger — because, in Mike’s words, “you can’t mess it up.”
🎬 Favorite Movies: Anything starring John Wayne
⚾ Favorite Team: Texas Rangers
🦌 Hobbies: Hunting

Fun Fact: Mike has also served as a firefighter for NASCAR for the past 19 years!

Mike and his son Jason also donate their time and equipment to help maintain the youth baseball field at the park, helping make sure the next generation has a great place to play ball.

We are thankful for Mike’s decades of dedication, service, and commitment to our community. Please join us in thanking him for everything he does!

👏 Thank you for your service, Mike!

🚨⏰ Don’t Forget to Spring Forward This Weekend! ⏰🚨

Daylight Saving Time begins this Sunday! Remember to set your clocks forward one hour before you go to bed Saturday night.

While you’re changing your clocks, take a few extra minutes to help protect your family:

🔥 Change the batteries in your smoke alarms
🏠 Replace batteries in your carbon monoxide (CO) detectors
✅ Test each alarm to make sure it’s working properly

Working smoke alarms cut the risk of dying in a home fire in half, and carbon monoxide detectors can alert you to a dangerous, odorless gas before it becomes life-threatening.

It only takes a few minutes, but it can save lives.

If you have questions about smoke alarm placement or need assistance, contact the fire department — we’re here to help!

🌪️ Storm & Tornado Season Is Here – Be Prepared, Not Scared! ⛈️

Storm season has officially begun, and now is the time to make sure you and your family are ready before severe weather strikes.

✅ Have a Plan
• Know where you will take shelter (lowest level, interior room, away from windows).
• Make sure everyone in your home knows the plan.

✅ Stay Informed
• Monitor local weather alerts.
• Have multiple ways to receive warnings (weather radio, phone alerts, local news).

✅ Build an Emergency Kit
• Flashlights & extra batteries
• First aid kit
• Bottled water & non-perishable food
• Medications
• Phone chargers / power banks

✅ When a Tornado Warning Is Issued
• Take shelter immediately.
• Do NOT stay in a mobile home — seek sturdy shelter.
• Avoid windows and exterior walls.
• Protect your head and neck.

🚫 After the Storm
• Watch for downed power lines.
• Avoid flood waters.
• Call 911 for emergencies only.

The Pauls Valley Fire Department is here to serve and protect our community, but preparation starts at home. Let’s work together to keep everyone safe this storm season.

Stay weather aware and stay safe! 🌩️

🚒⚡ Extension Cord Safety – Don’t Overload Your Home ⚡🚒

Extension cords are meant for temporary use only — not permanent wiring.

🔌 Never run extension cords under rugs or furniture
🔌 Don’t overload outlets with multiple high-powered appliances
🔌 Replace cords that are cracked, frayed, or warm to the touch
🔌 Use outdoor-rated cords for outdoor use

Overloaded cords can overheat and start fires quickly — often without warning.

Take a few minutes today to check the cords around your home. A small fix now can prevent a big emergency later.

Your Fire Department is always here to help. Stay safe! 🚒
