🛶 **This is why Scouting matters.** 💙
Our kayaking trip was a few weekends ago, but the memories from that weekend are still so encouraging.
One of the very best moments was watching a Scout decide to face his fears and give kayaking a try. We talked through his life jacket—how it should fit and how it would keep him safe—and with support from his leaders and fellow Scouts, he worked up the courage to climb into the kayak.
There were definitely some nerves at first…but once we started gliding across the water, those nerves quickly turned into excitement.
**“This is the best thing ever!”** 🥰
We had originally planned to stay in the small cove near the dock, but with calm water and growing confidence, our little adventure became something more. We paddled across the smooth lake to explore the incredibly clear water on the other side, discovering shells, rocks, and amazing formations we could see beneath the surface.
Scouting isn’t just about camping, kayaking, or earning adventures. It’s about giving kids a safe place to try something that feels a little scary, surrounding them with people who encourage them, and watching **“I don’t know if I can” turn into “This is the best thing ever!”**
Those are the moments we’ll remember. 🛶💙⚜️
