Today, we join more than 100 countries in recognizing World Homeless Day and declaring that homelessness is not inevitable.
Here in New Jersey, homelessness has increased 70% over the past four years. More families, older adults, and working New Jerseyans are losing their homes, while shelters are stretched beyond capacity and frontline providers are being asked to do more with less.
Homelessness is not inevitable. It is the result of policy choices, system gaps, and underinvestment—and it can be solved with the right strategy, political will, and sustained commitment.
Our new one-pager, No Place to Call Home, explores the data behind New Jersey's growing homelessness crisis, who is being impacted, and the human and financial costs of inaction.
