The State of Washington Awarded a second round of grants!! Grants to help communities plan for recreation!!! NCW Sports Rink and Event Ctr. has been awarded $250,000!!!
The grant is to be used to develop site assessments and construction plans, conduct surveys and support community engagement.

Hello Ice Lovers!! More good news!!!
We not only have our $50,000 grant from the USDA RURAL BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT GRANT to have a Feasibility Study done. We have chosen ECONorthwest from Washington State to complete the study!!! ECONorthwest completed a study for Leavenworth a few years ago to see if the City of Leavenworth’s concept of a seasonal Rink would make sense/ be feasible. 😉.
Speaking of a City, I have heard concerns - this is an opportunity to clear a few things up.
We are a Non-profit organization, with NO financial support from the City of Pateros. There is no tax money or City money that will used to create this great economic driver for our area and for our kids ( of all ages!)
This a great activity center for our youth during the winters months with ice skating, hockey, figure skating, etc. Oh, did I mention- there are grants for hockey uniforms and equipment!! That is how Winthrop gets their children’s gear. We can do it also!!
During the non-winter months we envision still envision a great activity center for our kids if all ages: Pickle Ball, roller hockey, roller skating, etc. Year round use!! Birthday parties, events!

As an update: We have been busy!! The Rink has been hard at work writing grant applications. We are waiting to hear back from the USDA Rural Business Development Grant for funds for our Feasibility/Planning study. This is a very important piece for this cornerstone project in our community.
Another grant to a local foundation asked us to try again this year as they were swamped by requests/applications this time.
We are in the process of writing a third grant that loves helping schools and children with working parents!! We are excited!!
We are busy creating new Logos for Rink ‘gear’. Hats, t-shirts, etc. Let us know if you would like to be apart of the process!!!
We are also seeking Angel donors/large donors to make this dream a reality!
We had a new conceptual drawing of the Field of Dreams showing the proposed location of the RINK.
We will be meeting with the Chelan Chamber of Commerce in a few weeks and just meet with the Pateros School District Board.
And are lining up meetings with potential donors.

The board of the NCW Sports Rink and Event Center a 501 (c) (3) non-profit, has been hard at work!
Our vision is to create an outdoor refrigerated regulation NHL ice rink for hockey, skating, teams, tournaments, and community along the shores of the Columbia River. The season will extend from mid- November to early March with tournaments bringing in 300-400 people for the weekend. All of those people will need places to eat, stay and shop! In the warmer months, the vision is for Pickle Ball tournaments, Roller Hockey, Curling, 3 on 3 Basketball, etc.
The location is land on the school property of Pateros School District, a district with a very tight budge. The Rink brings to the school districts ‘Field of Dreams’ a baseball and a softball field: a facilities/maintenance building with restrooms, concession stand, announcement booth. etc. The building will also have a locker room, showers, ticket and rental area, a heated observation/meeting/party room on an upper floor much of which the school would have access to. Of course there is an attached garage for the Zamboni and other equipment. We are in close communication with the school district on this vision for the Field of Dreams and the Rink.
If it sounds like the Winthrop Rink, that is because that is our role model. We wish to be affordable for our communities, build teams and bring in tourism and of course tournaments!
The Winthrop Rink is excited about the NCW Sports Rink and Event Center as the Winthrop Rink can’t accommodate all the desire and requests.
The Seattle Kraken are also excited about our project and the Winthrop Rink . The Seattle Kraken management has had our board for a tour of the Stadium.
We are presently working on a grant application to the USDA for a Rural Business Development Grant this grant money would go toward a feasibility study which is step one.

We are also working with Jenn Tate’s companies Earth and Sky/Cevado her sister companies to create a website for the Rink with a GoFundMe button for donations. Jenn kindly donated the effort to the Rink!
We presently have this page with the newly shortened ‘NCW Sports Rink and Event Center’. This page has a GoFundMe Button for donations also.
With the grant as with all grants comes the need for matching funds. Fundraisers to be held. And committees to be joined. We have a great start on the planning/building committee as two members are former owners of Sequoyah Electrical Contractors. More people are needed and very welcomed on all committees! Building/planning, fund raising, donations, grant writing. Feel free to respond with interest to [email protected].
