TIME TO SAY GOOD BYE
by John Bogack
It's time everyone. The work of this group is done. Hard to believe now but the first post to this page was made on November 11, 2011. We have been posting ever since but for a purpose now done: the Carnegie Library is saved, preserved, renovated and operating with a new sense of purpose.
We accomplished, and that we includes so many people, what we set out to do.
The ongoing work of keeping the Carnegie Library is now the sole duty of the Patchogue-Medford Library system. They will do a good job. Anyone wishing to support them should join the Friends of the Patchogue-Medford Library system and I am sure within those ranks there will always be room for any person who wants to make a particular effort to keep the preservation effort moving forward.
For news and updates about the Library, again it is the PM Library that is the best source of information of all that is to come.

And the renovated library has also become home to history. Somewhat overlooked the effort to save the library also resulted in a space for the Greater Patchogue Historical Society which now has its permanent headquarters and display area located in the lower floor of the Carnegie Library building.
They too could use your help and joining them would be the best way to do so: http://www.greaterpatchoguehistoricalsociety.com/
This page will not disappear. It's a part of the history of the Village. It's filled with video, photos and it's tells the story of how a group of ordinary citizens got together to do what had to be done and influenced those in power to see things were made right.
Towards the end of this year there will be some posts summarizing this history. Many years of effort deserve a fit send off.
But recurrent posts no more and we truly do urge all to focus their efforts and attention onto the two active groups who day to day are truly involved with the Carnegie Library.
