London Part 1

It’s been awhile since we’ve done a mother-daughter trip and this was our first international one!

Here are some random photos and thoughts:

London was amazing. People were incredibly nice. Felt very safe.

The weather was sunny and warm.

We had heard the food in London was just ok….so we tried a variety….and a lot of it was delicious!

London is expensive.

Pic 1: Iconic red London phone booth

Pic 2: Baby swans in Hyde Park

Pic 3: High tea

Pic 4: Borough Markets famous chocolate covered strawberries. The line was long but moved quickly….and worth it!

Pic 5: Borough market Paia

Pic 6: Giant pretzel

Pic 7: The Louis Vuitton Hotel pop up. You can’t stay there but you can tour it, purchase items and eat at the cafe. It’s free and worth seeing. Only open until June 21, 2026

Pic 8: iconic . Definitely a must visit if you are out shopping.

Pic 9: the amount of steps while shopping….not sightseeing, shopping😳

London Part 2 coming soon!

Does shopping and walking over 22,000 total steps count as an urban hike😂

A few snaps from hiking this week in cool (for us) weather!

Unfortunately, our cool weather spell (70-80’s) is over.

Today’s high is predicted to be 101°F

High temp hiking tips:

Get outside in the early mornings, or evenings after the sun goes down.

Hydrate before, during and after a hike.

Stay safe. Obey trail closures that are closed due to excessive heat warnings.

Know the signs of heat stroke and heat exhaustion.

Do not hike in the middle of the day when temps are the highest.

Also, Watch out for snakes!

Have any fun plans for the weekend, and what is the weather like near you!?

One of the best hikes in Scottsdale, AZ

Tom’s Thumb

4.4 miles
1230 elevation gain
Bathrooms: trailhead
Dog friendly
Rated: hard

This hike is a challenge but worth it
Some shade
Incredible views.
Bring lots of water

Biggest con: all the housing going up near it. Sad to see….but “they” say it’s progress.

Have you hiked Toms Thumb?

I almost canceled my recent trip to Punta Mita after all the cartel headlines a couple months ago. Friends and family said don’t go… and honestly, I was a little uneasy too.

But I went anyway. Here’s how it actually played out: read til the end😳

*We arrived safely

*Zero issues at the Puerto Vallarta airport

*going thru customs was quick and easy

*Stayed at the W Punta Mita — smooth transport getting there

*Rooms were nice… but definitely a little dated

*Warm ocean, soft sand, super clean beaches

*Sunset views + watching crabs on the beach = unreal

*Some really delicious meals

*Beach massages (HIGHLY recommend) one hour for $50

BUT… here’s the part people don’t talk about:

*The hotel felt empty. Occupancy was way down.

*Sounds great in theory… and yes, it was peaceful… but it came with trade-offs:

Food was just okay with limited options

No breakfast buffet (only a small menu that was ok for me but others were seriously disappointed)

Gift shops had random hours

Our catamaran snorkeling/waterfall tour got canceled last minute. No reason given.

Our friend got stung by a stingray…fyi, soak in hot water to stop the pain (he’s fine….pic 5)

And then… the biggest curveball 😳

We were supposed to leave Monday. On Saturday, we got a letter and an email:

!!! Roads to the airport would be SHUT DOWN starting at 5am Monday (our departure date) due to a demonstration (no explanation given on what the “demonstration” was about )

We were given 3 options:

1. Leave early (Sunday)
2. Stay an extra day (Tuesday departure)
3. Go to Puerto Vallarta Sunday night and stay near the airport and catch our original flight out Monday.

So… what would YOU do?
