"An ongoing deadlock between the seven states that rely on the Colorado River may have dire consequences for Arizona.

A lack of agreement between the Upper and Lower Basin states would mean the federal government imposes its own plan for reallocating the water over the next 10 years โ€“ a plan that could mean cuts up to 77% for Arizona.

No other state faces such severe cuts under the โ€œno dealโ€ federal proposal. Nevada would see its share of the river reduced by 6%. The other five states would see no change."

Arizona faces cuts of up to 77% to its share of water from the Colorado River as Upper and Lower Basin states remain deadlocked over a new allocation deal.
