We had a great time working with our volunteers to help the Salinas River and River Walk look its best this past Saturday, thanks in no small part to the work of the Goat Lady and her very efficient goats that have eaten down the dry grasses and poison oak allowing us to work even closer to the river. It’s always one of our favorite things to see each year as it helps the River Walk look even more beautiful and it keeps Paso Robles safe from fire danger.
16 volunteers showed up to walk these newly cleared fields and helped us collect 36 bags of litter for a total of over 400 pounds. The River Walk is looking amazing and we can’t recommend enough that folks get down there and enjoy walking, biking, and hiking this Paso Robles treasure.
Thank you to Renée Bailey for once again being our Beacon for the day’s event. She sure volunteers a lot with our organization. How often? Well you’ll have to wait until the next event to hear about an important milestone she’s about to hit.
We’d also like to thank Tim Zimmerman, Dana La Curan, Josh Aronsohn, Ryan Metz, Andrew Allen, Leslie Lerma, Craig Bailey, Brandon Bailey, James Campa, Frank Kehl, Michael Kehl, Zerayacob Negussie, Omar Severiano Rojo, and Matthew Quinteros for all their hard work.
Of course, we can’t forget to thank our sponsors of these monthly events at the River Walk: Villa Del Rio Apartments, Wittstrom Hay Sales & Trucking, Sierra Honey Farm, and Paso Food Cooperative, thank you for your generous support of the work we’re doing to help Paso shine.
If you’d like to volunteer with us, we return to the River Walk on Saturday, June 20th from 10am-noon behind Wendy’s (141 Niblick Rd). If you’re hoping to join us before then we’ll be working in Arroyo Grande on Saturday, June 13th from 10am until noon. We’ll be meeting at Heritage Square Park (201 Nelson St) and heading out into the community to pick up litter in a few areas that could use a little TLC.
Hope to see you there!
