In the late fall 1957, five Omega brothers from the east - namely Oscar Harris, J. Quentin Mason, Maurice Neisler, Bert Estwick and Joseph S. Shearron - organized a local chapter of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity in the Pasadena area. Being lonesome for the fellowship, inspiration and the guiding light of Omega, they found five more Omega brothers. After meeting together, the brothers immediately co

ntacted the District Representative, Brother John C. Long of Fresno, California and the necessary arrangements for official recognition were made. In August of 1958, the group of brothers received their Charter and the chapter Zeta Tau was officially organized. In the fall of 1958, the chapter held its first social event and fund raising project. During this time, a pledge club was organized at Pasadena City College named the Lampados Club. The untiring effort of Brother Joseph Quentin Mason was the main contributing factor for its existence. (Source: History of Zeta Tau Chapter, circa 1958)
