Huntington Health educators showed us the critical steps to stop the bleed today as part of Pasadena Village's Prepared 50+ initiative. A dozen attendees practiced what they learned - including how to apply a tourniquet if necessary. We all are better equipped with information as well as starter Go Bags for future emergencies. Thank you to our partners American Red Cross and Huntington Health for making this event possible!

We gathered at Washington Park with movement educator and Embodied Resilience Strategist Kelly Etter for an interactive session exploring how gentle movement, breath, and simple nervous-system practices can help ease tension, support calm, and build resilience in everyday life. Drawing on 26 years of Pilates and body-based work, Kelly shared practical tools to help us feel more at home in our bodies and build strength from the inside out.

🚶‍♀️☕️ Urban Walkers enjoy exploring our community one neighborhood at a time! This week, the group had another pleasant morning walk through a beautiful neighborhood, ending at one of their favorite spots for coffee and treats—the Red Door. ❤️

Our weekly 2–3 mile walks are a wonderful way to discover new places, connect with fellow Villagers, and build friendships along the way. Members take turns choosing routes and leading the group, and guests and prospective Village members are always welcome! Come walk with us!

On 9/20 Villager Kim Santell organized a B**r & Bonsai event at RT Rogers Brewing, Co. in collaboration with Sierra Madre Bonsai. Villagers joined Steve Salisian for a hands on workshop accompanied by a draft b**r and they all went home with a bonsai to care for and enjoy. Missed it? Pasadena Village hosted a pre-conference walk at the LA Arboretum on 9/17. Over 30 Village leaders, from villages across California - and even some from out of state - joined us.

The 8th Annual Statewide Village Conference is planned by Village Movement California, the statewide coalition of villages, which we are a proud member.

The goal of the Villager Engagement Team (VET) is to ensure that all new Villagers are welcomed and connected to the vibrant life of the Pasadena Village. Jeff Gutstadt, chair of VET, reports on this year’s progress here:

The Villager Engagement Team (VET) has made great progress during 2025/26. The Village had 252 members in July 2025 and 287 members at the present time. We have 3 new members in the VET-Julie Sorensen, Patrick Oliva, and Lawrence Yu.
