Big news for water quality.

The Healthy H2O Act has passed the House, with key provisions included in the Farm Bill to expand access to water testing and filtration for rural households.

WQA applauds Rep. David Rouzer and Congresswoman Chellie Pingree for their leadership in advancing practical, science-based solutions.

PWQA held our first online webinar on April 23 featuring Frank DeSilva of Resintech. Frank presented an important topic, โ€œThe removal of Hexavalent Chromate from Drinking Water Supplies.โ€
In this webinar, Frank discussed the health effects, regulatory limits, and treatment technologies available, including reverse osmosis and ion exchange systems. He explained the differences between strong base and weak base anion resins, highlighting their performance capabilities and regeneration requirements.
The presentation covered current detection rates in California water systems, disposal considerations for spent regeneration brine, and cost comparisons between different treatment methods. Frank also addressed questions about skin absorption risks, regeneration processes, and disposal protocols for spent resin. The webinar concluded with a question and answer session where participants discussed additional technical details about resin performance and natural occurrence of hexavalent chromium in groundwater.
Thank you to all who joined us. For those who missed this insightful and informative webinar, you may view the recording here: https://youtu.be/S-77eCca-hU
