We hosted Advanced Managerial Accounting for Electrical Contractors on February 20 at the Electrical Training Institute, welcoming late-career project managers, business owners, and financial leaders for a deep dive into construction finance. 📊⚡
This course moved beyond basic accounting terms and into strategic financial analysis, including Break Even Volume analysis, profit goal setting, and net revenue requirements. Attendees explored how to “right-size” a construction firm, benchmark overhead to revenue, and evaluate key financial ratios used by sureties and general contractors to measure capacity and capital strength. 💼📈
The session also covered leveraging trade discounts to improve cash flow and understanding the true cost behind those decisions—equipping leaders to make informed, data-driven financial choices.
Led by Associate Professor John Killingsworth of Colorado State University, the course combined industry experience with research-backed insights tailored specifically to the electrical construction sector.
