Peace Sisters

Peace Sisters Peace Sisters helps girls empower themselves through reliable access to education in Togo, West Afri

Peace Sisters was founded by Tina Kampor, a Togolese American woman. Since moving to California in 2003, Tina has worked extremely hard to learn English and pursue a career in nursing. All the while she has been sending money back home to Togo in order to help support disadvantaged girls who would have otherwise dropped out of school. Over the years, the number of students she supports has grown to over 470 girls. Peace Sisters was formally recognized as a 501(c)3 Nonprofit Organization in 2016.

Students signing up for mobile money accounts (similar to Venmo or CashApp).

A traditional bank charges about $3 per month in fees. That’s significant.

Mobile money means the full amount reaches them and that difference goes toward daily essentials.

These girls are attending one of the two main public universities in Togo.

Because Peace Sisters is based in the north, most of
the university girls in our program need to move several hours away to study. That means new cities, shared dormitories, and learning to live independently for the first time.

For many, they are the first in their family to attend university.

On her last trip to Togo, West Africa, Tina traveled more than three hours to visit the university students and make sure every girl had a place to live.

When she was told that three students might not receive dorm placements, she pushed back. Housing is not optional.

For many of our students, university is in another city. Dormitories mean safety, structure, and the ability to stay enrolled.

When Peace Sisters commits to supporting a girl in our program, we commit fully and we leave no girl behind.

In 2025, we supported 421 girls across education levels, not only in middle and high school but also in college, apprenticeships, trade degrees, and tutoring.

We also provided girls important supplies like uniforms, menstrual supplies, social study lamps, and more to make it easier to stay and thrive in school.

Ever since moving to California in 2003, Tina Kampor always wanted to pay forward her good fortune and she could never forget the girls she knew were struggling back home.

She created Peace Sisters to support the Peace Girls organization back in her hometown Togo, West Africa.
