The Pasadena Casting Club The Pasadena Casting Club (PCC) is a group of enthusiasts dedicated to fly fishing and casting. Casting pool is always open, as it is a Pasadena park.

The Pasadena Casting Club (PCC) is a group of fly fishing enthusiasts dedicated to fly fishing, fly casting, fly tying, and all things related to the sport. When like-minded men and women gather, fly fishing can be the catalyst for camaraderie which forms life-long friendships. A nonprofit organization founded in 1947, we have our own clubhouse and casting pool in Pasadena’s beautiful Lower Arroyo Seco Park, which is a central gathering spot for the 250+ club members. One of the oldest and finest in the country, the Club has historical significance in the sport; some members have been internationally recognized for notable contributions over the decades. We are a volunteer organization, with all tasks done by dedicated members. We especially encourage families and children to join and to participate in Club activities. The clubhouse is open every Sunday from 1 to 5 PM, and has fly rods available for practice at no charge.

Introducing the Pasadena Casting Club Women’s Casting Lab — a NEW, ongoing, every-other-week gathering dedicated to learning, connecting, and growing our women’s fly fishing community in Southern California!

This isn’t just a one-time event… it’s the beginning of something special! 💚

Starting October 25 & 29, we’re kicking off a regular series of FREE, beginner-friendly fly casting sessions where women of all experience levels can come together to build skills, gain confidence, make new friends, and have FUN!

🎣 WHAT TO EXPECT:
✨ Hands-on fly casting instruction
✨ Coaching and encouragement from Mike & Mario
✨ Fun casting games — starting with “Dry Fly”!
✨ A welcoming, supportive community of women
✨ Coffee, donuts & great company! ☕🍩

Hello Pasadena Casting Club and Southern California!
We’re excited to share our next casual local fishing meetup!

Join the Ladies of the Pasadena Casting Club on Saturday, October 17 for a morning of urban fishing at Hansen Dam. We’ll be fishing from 7:30–9:30 AM for Trout, Channel Catfish, Largemouth Bass, Bluegill, and Common Carp.

Whether you’re an experienced angler, completely new to fishing, or just looking to meet other women in the community, all are welcome. Bring your own fishing gear if you plan to fish, but no gear or fishing experience is required—you’re also welcome to come hang out, learn, and enjoy the morning with us by the water.

If you’re fishing, please remember to bring a valid fishing license. Come fish, learn, connect, and spend the morning enjoying some urban fishing with us!

Also, on October 11, our committee chair, Dorothy Dai, will be at the casting club house from 10am to 2pm. For those of you who want to tie flies to hangout or have questions about gear and rigging, please stop on by!

There is also a group of regulars who cast, so bring your rod on by and join them for some casting practice.

Join us for the PCC General Meeting on Wednesday, October 7 as we welcome back acclaimed Colorado guide, author, and fly tyer Landon Mayer. Landon will present “Catching Everything on One Fly,” sharing his simple, proven guide-fly approach and favorite patterns for catching trophy trout—including his popular Mini Leech and other easy-to-tie patterns.

Hello Pasadena Casting Club and Southern California!

The women’s program might have been a little quieter on IG of late, but fear not, we still had our great monthly events in August and September.

In August, we had a jeopardy night where we combined fly fishing trivia with pop culture and current events (just to even out the playing field for all!) Congrats to Team SLAP and their impeccable fly fishing knowledge and three cheers for Team Real Big Brainz for putting up the good fight.

Fast forward to September, we had a casual LA river meetup in Frogtown. All were invited, whether they had fly gear, conventional gear, or not. Many thanks to for providing his mentorship and guidance for the group as they reeled in carp, bass, and sunfish. The turnout was so great that we foresee many opportunities for casual LA river fishing meetups as we build a bigger and stronger fly fishing community (conventional anglers are welcomed!)

What’s coming up for October?

There’s a small group of women going up to the Lower Owens River in Bishop, attending a two day beginner-friendly workshop. On October 11, committee chair, Dorothy Dai, will be at the casting club house from 10am to 2pm. For those of you who want to tie flies to hangout or have questions about gear and rigging, please stop on by! There’s also a group of regulars who cast, so bring your rod on by and join them for some casting practice.

Finally, be on the lookout for another casual local fishing meetup here on IG and on the Pasadena Casting Club’s event page. I hear that it’s almost ready to be served this October 17…!

🎣 PCC September General Meeting — Tomorrow!

Join us Wednesday, September 9 at Brookside Golf Club for an evening with Abram Tucker of the California Department of Fish and Wildlife.

Abram will share updates on California trout conservation, the Heritage and Wild Trout Challenge, and CDFW’s new California Inland Recreational Angler Survey (CIRAS).

Join us for an early morning of fly fishing, casting, and good company at Dockweiler Beach!

Whether you already fly fish the surf, want to learn, or simply want to spend a little time at the beach, everyone is welcome! You do not have to be a PCC member to join us.

Scott Boller and Steve Terui will be there to share guidance and tips as we cast for Corbina and Perch. A 6–7 wt. fly rod is recommended, and Scott or Steve can help with gear and fly recommendations.

🚗 Enter Dockweiler State Beach from Imperial Highway, turn right/north after entering the parking lot, and look for Lifeguard Tower 51. Parking is $13.
