Does your emergency plan include your pet? Most of us have thought about what we would do in an emergency, but when you share your home with animals, they need to be a part of that plan, too.
Here are a few things to think about when making your emergency plan:
⭐ Have you put together a go-bag for yourself? Make sure you also have one for your pet! Food, water, medications, a leash or carrier, and copies of their vet records are a good place to start.
⭐ Is your pet microchipped and is that information current?
⭐ Where would you go if you had to leave home quickly? Make sure your destination welcomes pets.
⭐ If you were not home when an emergency happened, does someone you trust know how to help your pet?
⭐ Does your neighborhood or community have resources for pet owners who may need extra support during an evacuation?
It can feel overwhelming, but emergencies are unpredictable and a little planning can make a big difference when it matters most. What steps are you taking to make sure your pet is safe in an emergency?
