Come on down to Birdin’ of Proof, a birding happy hour with Pasadena Audubon Society and Burden of Proof on Tuesday, June 30 from 5:30 PM - 7:00 PM. Meet fellow birders and nature enthusiasts over free non-alcoholic brews from Pasadena’s own Headlight Brewing, swap stories, and connect with your local avian-loving community. If you’re new to birding, we’d especially love to meet you! Pasadena Audubon staff will be on hand to answer questions, share resources, and help you get started. We’ll also have educational materials about local bird species available for anyone interested in learning more about their feathered neighbors.

Tonight it's Bird Call Bingo & Beers! Don't worry, the Cedar Waxwing pictured below will NOT be among the featured birds. Too much ambient merriment to hear their plaintive cries. Besides, it will be wacky enough with birds that vocalize in the sweet spot of human hearing range.

And remember, the good folks at Wild Parrot Brewing Co. donates $1 for every pint we buy!

Live screening: Hawk Watch!!

Wednesday, May 20, 2026, 7:00 PM
Audubon Center at Debs Park

Our May meeting is a special event - a live outdoor screening of the new film Hawk Watch. This beautiful one-hour documentary tells the story of the Swainson’s Hawks’ west coast migration, and the dedicated volunteers in southern California who have spent decades tracking the migration. The film-makers, Alicia Wszelaki and Matthew Nothelfer, will be there to tell stories about the creation of the feature.

Our venue is the Audubon Center at Debs Park, just north of downtown Los Angeles. Come early and enjoy some sunset birding, then have a seat (feel free to bring lawn chairs or blankets, and munchies) and enjoy an outdoor night at the movies!

NOTE: This event is not being streamed online. If you want to see it, ya gotta come in person. See you there!

About a year ago, along with the Gamble House hummingbird cantina, we installed a nest box in front of our office as a morale booster after the devastating fires affected our community. This spring our hopes have come to fruition. Although designed for Western Bluebirds, an Oak Titmouse pair has made themselves a nursery in the box, and it looks like they’re gearing up for a nice big brood! Happy spring!!!

Pasadena Audubon is pleased to announce that we are now accepting Spring 2026 applications for our Research and Educational Grants program. We’re offering grants up to $5,000 to help fund both scientific research and community-based programs. We’re particularly interested in avian research that’s relevant to Southern California or the Pacific Flyway.

We’re also offering grants up to $1,000 to young birders and students (undergraduate and graduate) to help defray the rising costs of scientific conferences and related events.

The deadline for applications is fast approaching, April 3rd, 2026, and applicants will be notified of acceptance by April 20, 2026. Full details are online at www.pasadenaaudubon.org/grants .
