Mothers for Africa, the Nana Sekyiaabea Foundation received its beginnings in Ghana, West Africa. The President Nehanda Sankofa-Ra and Vice-president Cheryl Faheem, founders of Mothers for Africa, the Nana Sekyiaabea Foundation began their charitable quest 45 minutes outside of Accra, Ghana in a village named Ahwerase Akuapem. nging her name in 2001 to Nehanda Nzingha Sankofa-Ra. Chief Semshia Ohene Asah Krofa II an indigenous chief in Ghana, instooled her as a: Queen Mother. He renamed her: Queen Mother Nana Akosua Sekyiaabea I apart of the Asona Royal Family. The family’s crest of the Asona Royal Family is proudly displayed on the website’s homepage. Nana Sekyiaabea was an instrumental figure in the Chief's village. She was a Queen Mother during the 19th century who left with missionaries for the United States, sadly she never returned. Village tradition states that her descendant would return to Ghana. In honor of her memory, Chief Krofa II suggested that the foundation subtitle be called: Nana Sekyiaabea Foundation, thus, the name. Africa is the richest continent in the world as far as mineral sources, yet has the poorest people. Donating clothes, books, building libraries, constructing irrigation systems, create solar communities, eradicating poverty, hunger, lack of resources and health education. We accept donations but our main objectives and long term goals are to help start a self -reliant and self -sufficient Africa, by creating jobs for the people, with hopes of one day helping Africa to become economically independent. We dedicate ourselves to not be reactive but proactive while seeking better ways to improve the present state of Africa. We need your help to accomplish this.
