Girls on the Run of Los Angeles County is a local council of a national organization dedicated to helping pre-teen girls realize just how incredible they are. Girls on the Run uses the power of running to prepare girls in 3rd – 8th grades for a lifetime of self-respect and healthy living. With a detailed curriculum of games, activities, discussions, and running around, girls experience the joy of

simply being themselves! The lessons inspire them to celebrate their bodies, honor their voices, recognize their gifts, and activate their power. At the end of each season, they complete a non-competitive 5k (3.1 mile) walk/run.

As we celebrated 20 years of Girls on the Run of Los Angeles County at this season’s 5K, we wanted to create moments that honored the community that helped build this organization.

From our Alumni Tent and Golden Baton Energy Awards to anniversary treats and spaces to reflect and reconnect, these touches reinforced the message that this milestone belongs to so many people.

We were especially grateful to welcome back alumni, long-time coaches, and supporters who joined us to celebrate and reconnect. Seeing generations of the GOTRLA community together was a reminder of what makes this organization so special: people coming together for one another and for girls.

For twenty years, girls, coaches, volunteers, families, staff, board members, and supporters have helped shape Girls on the Run LA into the vibrant community it is today. We loved celebrating our past while cheering on the girls who will carry this work forward.

Women built this. Girls will lead it. ✨

Because of our incredible coaches, volunteers, schools, families, and community, hundreds of girls crossed the 5K finish line this season.

As we celebrated the 20th anniversary of Girls on the Run LA, we were reminded that none of this happens alone.
