⚠️Community Alert: Food Insecurity Crisis in Pasadena

The ongoing government shutdown is having a ripple effect across Los Angeles County, where 1.5 million residents may lose access to food support if it continues into November. Right here in the Pasadena area, our local food pantries are facing a dual crisis: dwindling supplies and volunteer shortages—just as federal benefits are set to be cut off.

For years, Pasadena Community Foundation (PCF) has prioritized food security through our grantmaking, supporting nonprofits that serve our neighbors in need. But today, the need is greater than ever—and we all have a role to play.

🎯 Here’s how you can help:

🥫Donate non-perishable food to local pantries like pactl.org, Friends In Deed, Pasadena Senior Center, Pasadena Community Job Center, Foothill Unity Center, FirstAME Church, First United Methodist Church of Pasadena, and First Church of the Nazarene.

💸Contribute financially—nonprofits can often stretch their dollars further by purchasing food in bulk at discounted rates.

🫶Volunteer your time to help sort, pack, or distribute food.

Every act of generosity strengthens our community. Let’s come together to ensure that no one in the Pasadena area goes hungry.
