The Stas Venglevski Music Foundation has been hosting the annual Houston Accordion Orchestra Retreat since 2021. These retreats are held to encourage and empower young students to compose and perform music for the accordion. This year was their biggest retreat so far, consisting of a full week of rehearsals, performances, and recordings. 15 original works written by their young and talented students were performed and recorded over the course of the retreat. Earlier this year the small town of Curtis, Michigan came alive with the sound of the accordion as the Houston Accordion Orchestra spent a week in residence at the Erickson Center for the Arts. This event included seven days of rehearsing, filming, and premiering 15 original works written by their talented young musicians.
