A large CA black bear moving through Rosemont Preserve last month 🐻

Over the summer we posted about a bear and her two cubs that were growing up at Rosemont Preserve. We hadn’t caught a glimpse of them in a while, but a few days ago Denis Callet’s camera revealed the cubs are back and MUCH bigger! They’re looking healthy and as energetic as ever.

Join us at Millard Canyon Preserve to help maintain this special place as a wildlife refuge!

This Saturday, October 10th, volunteers will meet at 9am. If you have them, please bring tools such as w**d whackers, pruners, loppers, or other hand tools suitable for cutting and clearing vegetation.

If you have any of the following tools, please consider bringing them: shovels, spades, loppers, hatchets, clippers. Other tools and equipment will be available.⁠

This Saturday, join AFC and the Friends of Rubio Canyon in Altadena! Help maintain the trails at Rubio Canyon Preserve for safe public access, restore impacted areas, and care for this unique and ecologically important landscape.

Please bring water, sunscreen, and work gloves. We recommend wearing pants, long sleeves, and sturdy shoes. If available, feel free to bring any of the following tools: McLeod, shovel, bow rake, pick mattock, folding saw, and loppers. Other tools and equipment will be available.⁠

AFC is welcoming the fall season with all kinds of events 🍂🍃 There are opportunities for everyone to get involved with local urban conservation!

Join us for a bioblitz at Rubio Canyon, a tour of the Cottonwood Canyon wildlife corridor, or a beginners session on growing CA native plants in your yard. Plus, all month long we'll be at community events hosted by our partners in conservation.
