Today we received an email from a respected wellness food manufacturer. They wanted to donate grains for cooking and seeds. There were (2) products to share nearing 4 tons of organic product ready to donate.

We thought about the donation and who would make the best use of this in the easiest manor. Happy to share the match was made within an hour. Monday the Hollywood Food Coalition will pick this up from the food donors warehouse.

One cup of this grain is a complete protein. This donation alone will provide 20,160 cups of a complete protein. How wonderful is that! And the seeds are a flower/nut seed with even more protein to share.

Urban Harvester sends our thoughts and prayers to all of those affected by the Eaton and Palisades fires in Los Angeles. The produce industry wants to help and has reached out to connect to organizations locally. Food presentation and quality are so important. We made fun cupcakes, the farmers market displayed berries and vegetables as an art form, our salad captured the best of this market, and the spinach and mushrooms that were fresh picked made for a wonderful quiche. What’s on your menu today?

Throughout the summer your get togethers often end up with extra produce. Turn these into another meal or more. Leftover spinach and chicken apple sausage went into a quiche. Salads with lots of healthy crunchy bites to finish off the odds and ends. Together we share and do lots of good for reducing waste. Urban Harvester presented our 2023 Post Covid-19 Survey results to a fantastic group of invited organizations and businesses from across California. We were joined by leaders and program managers representing food banks, pantries, emergency service providers, 211LA referral services, food producers, health departments, and policy makers.
