Last week the ASOF Seismic Security Task Force met with the Chairman of the Urban Development Committee Mr. Yeghiazar Vardanyan and his team. Other members of the ASOF SSTF joined the conversation online. Specialists from the National University of Architecture and Construction of Armenia also participated in the meeting. The experts presented their observations on several key issues, which are also in the focus of the Urban Development Committee. The principles of joint work in these areas were outlined.

In particular, the issues of the housing stock that does not meet modern standards for emergency and earthquake resistance, current urban development standards, project expertise and technical supervision of construction were addressed.

The group of experts also includes representatives of the sectoral subdivisions of the Los Angeles local self-government bodies, who have expressed their willingness to present the US experience in resolving the issues under consideration.

During the meeting, it was decided to form joint working groups in the areas under consideration and to establish a schedule for organizing the work.
