NEW event added to Craftsman Week by popular demand: The Asian Roots of Pasadena’s Craftsman Architecture

Tuesday, October 13th | 6:00 - 7:30 PM

Pasadena has perhaps the best examples of Craftsman architecture in the US. One of the key distinguishing features is the influence of Asian architecture on buildings designed by Greene and Greene and others.

Join us for a lecture highlighting the connections between ancient Chinese and Japanese wooden architecture and 20th century Pasadena Craftsman Style. Presented by Dave Nufer; cultural historian and Pasadena Heritage Board member.

An inspiring few days on Capitol Hill advocating with the National Trust for Historic Preservation!

We had the opportunity to meet with California’s congressional representatives to discuss Section 106, the Historic Preservation Fund, and the Federal Historic Tax Credit. These are essential tools for protecting our nation’s historic places, yet many offices were unfamiliar with Section 106 and the proposed changes that threaten to weaken these protections.

A powerful reminder of why showing up, building relationships, and advocating for preservation matter.

Join us for a very special tour of the Blinn House on Sept. 26th entitled Her Pasadena: Women Remaking Home and Civic Life

Pasadena’s 1906 Blinn House is a Prairie-style residence that was transformed in the 1940s into the Women’s City Club of Pasadena. As part of California Preservation Foundation’s Annual Doors Open program, we will use architecture, original photography, period clothing, and stationed guides to explore how women adapted a grand domestic setting into a place for civic leadership, social engagement, and cultural life.
