Posted • Brothers — Today begins Black August, a month long commemoration of the lives of fallen freedom fighters, political prisoners and prisoners of war.

Our organization is humbled to join 90 brothers and sisters from and comrades around the world, inside and outside of prison, in observing the three central tenets of Black August: Fasting (Sunup to SunDown all Month), Studying (Reading and study Groups), and Training. We are denying ourselves the distractions that are so plentiful in our lives to raise awareness of conditions in prisons, to educate ourselves on the history of Black & Afrikan resistance in the US and throughout the diaspora, and to recommit ourselves to the struggle of liberation and Black Independence.

We will honor our elders, all political prisoners past and present and dedicate our organization to Black liberation.

Bodycam footage of the fatal shooting of 13-year-old Adam Toledo by a Chicago police officer in late March has been released today.

In the footage, Adam is seen complying with officer Eric Stillman, who has now been placed on administrative duties for 30 days, as the police accountability office conducts an investigation into the shooting.
