Today marks six years after the murder of George Floyd. As a Black-led organization, we’ve been asked to shrink, to water down our language, and to support white supremacy in order to remain “safe.” As we remember the 2020 racial justice protests sparked by Floyd’s murder, we remind ourselves that we must continue to take action against anti-Blackness—we refuse to just “move on.”

We are firmly grounded in the work of building connections, imagining new futures, and actualizing dreams that affirm the lives of Black people against the anti-Blackness that continues to challenge us. Black deaths are not punchlines. Black trauma is not an opportunity for profit. Black people deserve to live abundantly without defense or explanation. Suleiman Adan, Deputy Executive Director of CAIR-MN questions, “Why do we have to add ornaments to Black men’s lives to make them more human?” It’s long past time to hold white supremacy accountable. Today serves as one of many reminders that our mandate is the work of generations past, present, and future, anchoring our commitment to cultivating Black community, creativity, and joy.

Image description: On a solid orange background, the top half of the image quotes Audre Lorde in black text: “When I dare to be powreful—to use my strength in the service of my vision—then it becomes less and less important whether I am afraid.” The bottom half of the graphic is a colorized image of the George Floyd memorial in Minnesota.

As artist-activists, truth-telling is essential to our craft. To confront the ways that white supremacy benefits from ambiguity, we must be direct with our words, actions, and intentions. Clarity is care. Clarity as an act of love creates space for shared understandings, broadening opportunities to move intentionally towards a liberated future.

Our May offering reminds us that it’s a sacred practice to bear witness to the state of the world around us, yet continue the call for love, empathy, and connection. Visit https://mailchi.mp/artequity.org/clarity-as-care or click the link in our bio!

Image Description: A purple-orange-yellow gradient lies over an illustration of people marching in the streets; a person holds a sign that says: We Shall Overcome. “Clarity as Care” is in white font at the top. The artEquity Logo is in a white painterly circle on the center of the image. The white bottom-right text reads: “MAY OFFERING. Issue 2 | 2026.”

Reposted from - “We chart close to 100 years of underground q***r history, and it culminates in this honoring of the original houses and original house mothers.”

What started as a joke between roommates has quickly become one of the buzziest shows on Broadway ‘Cats: The Jellicle Ball.’ From its off-Broadway debut in 2024 to its current run at Broadhurst Theatre, the show — which swaps the alleyway setting for a ballroom competition held in a Harlem warehouse — has built a dedicated fanbase.

At the link in bio, writer Mina Mire talks to the creative team behind the buzzy revival about honoring the history of q***r performance.
