When my friend Charlie Slater died in February, I decided to build as many of his Sunshine kits as I could to join what I had already built for a tribute to him at the Santa Fe Convention. Three months and 9 kits later, it is time to pack it up as I leave Saturday. Charlie mastered over 80 (EIGHTY) resin kits for Martin and transferred a few to Westerfield after Martin's death. 2 of these 9 are unpainted - they will have to wait until after the convention. Top to bottom, left to right: BX-56, BX-58, BX-32, BX-36, GA-8, GA-6, FE-15, FT-P, and FT-L. All were weighted to NMRA standards as I operate my cars. The gondolas and flats sacrificed some underbody details for lead weight, but you can't tell it from trackside.
