Over the past three years, together with local partners, Hope Ventures has trained over 200 entrepreneurs and 75 business mentors, bringing together over a dozen organizations to eradicate poverty through entrepreneurship.

"I already have everything I need."

Our latest cohort in Malawi just finished training, and this was one graduate's biggest takeaway. The gifts, the skills, and the vision were already there. Training helped her see them.

Meet Cristine Muchichwa — married, mother of three, and owner of AAJ Glamour Avenue in Harare, Zimbabwe.

Through our local business hub, Gilead, Cristine learned to manage her money, track daily stock, and run her clothing and shoe business with confidence. The result? She no longer needs support from anyone. She supports herself.

And she's not stopping there. Cristine's already dreaming up her next move: community promotions for her customers, and someday, a place where elderly people in her community can find care.

This is what independence looks like. This is what investing in an entrepreneur can do.

James didn't wake up one day dreaming of owning a business. He started one because he needed to eat.

That's how it goes for a lot of people. Business isn't the dream, it's survival. But James, one of the leaders at Hope Business Hub in Malawi, says Hope Ventures gave the entrepreneurs something they didn't have before: a road map. A way to take what started as "I need to survive" and turn it into something that actually works.

That's James, the Hope Business Hub leader in Malawi, on the shift he's watching happen in real time. Entrepreneurs who once focused on getting through the week are now building for the future, for their families, their businesses, their communities.

Two weeks ago in Atlanta, we spent time with some newer friends of Hope Ventures — supporters who've recently stepped into this community.

They took us through their workplaces, and honestly, it was a great reminder of why this work is so good: real people, showing up, wanting to be part of something bigger than themselves.
