Congressman Al Green held a news conference calling for answers in the police shooting of 35-year-old Joshua Johnson in Harris County.

Johnson's family has been waiting for justice for a year since an undercover Harris County Sheriff's deputy shot and killed their son.

You heard of George Floyd, but have you heard of Joshua Johnson, the Houston man murdered by a Harris County Sheriff’s Deputy?

Probably not, because the Harris County Sheriff’s Office has been trying hard to cover it up.

Prior to even questioning the shooting officer, an autopsy report, or even interviewing witnesses, Det. Beall and the Harris County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) diagnosed the case.

The family collected several pieces of evidence to contradict the account HCSO would like the public to believe.

Sheriff Ed Gonzales lied to the family 3 times when he said Tu Tran, the killer, did not leave the scene and stayed on the street, and that he went to the stop sign to call for assistance. The video footage captured from the family’s camera determined that was a LIE.

What is he trying to hide and why?

Not only did Tu Tran leave the scene and turn right into the main neighborhood street, he didn’t return for several minutes later. When he returned one car followed behind him. It wasn’t until several minutes after he returned with the other car that sirens and assistance arrive.

Why did Tran leave? Who did he bring back with him? What was he trying to hide? Why did he leave Joshua to bleed out in his car when he could have been saved? Why is the Harris County Sheriff’s Office trying to cover up the murder of Joshua? What are they afraid will be exposed?

April 22nd will mark 1 year since his death. Floyd just received the justice he deserves. But almost a year later and Tran still hasn’t been indicted. Joshua deserves justice too.

April 22, 2020 marks 1 year of Joshua Johnson's death at the hands of Harris County Sheriff's Officer, Tu Tran.
Today, April 16, 2021 marks the 1st day of the Grand Jury trial so that Tu Tran can be indicted for the death of Joshua Johnson.

This has been a long 11 months and 25 days, but we have pushed for 1 thing, Justice for Joshua. Not only are we hoping for justice, but for the corrupt and archaic practices of the Harris County Sherriff's Office to be exposed so that everyone connected will be held accountable for the lack of investigation and subsequent cover-up attempt.

Is anyone surprised?

Justice for Joshua

On April 22, 2020, Joshua Johnson was looking after the house of his elderly neighbor when he was slain by a plainclothes Harris County Sheriff Officer.

Joshua offered to look after the home of his neighbor, who he knew since he was just a young boy. He already had a key to her house and didn’t hesitate to help. That is who he was, giving, kind, self sacrificing, which is why when the Harris County Sheriff's Detective told us the purported facts of the case, we didn’t believe it to be true.

We didn’t believe it to be true because because the narrative they were creating didn’t align with Joshua’s character. Further, as neighbors began collecting their eyewitness accounts and other evidence, glaring inconsistencies and contradictions began to surface.
