The IBEW is calling on all members to mobilize now and urge their members of Congress to oppose any bills that would impose bans on data center construction and to instead support strong labor standards for these projects.
As Congress considers policies on the expansion of data centers, some proposals would halt construction entirely. Such bans would directly harm IBEW members by eliminating good-paying union construction jobs, limiting work opportunities, and stunting economic growth in the communities where members live and work.
When built responsibly, data centers provide IBEW members with steady work, high wages, and long-term career opportunities in a booming sector. This is why Congress should reject one-size-fits-all bans and instead support a worker-first approach that protects labor standards, apprenticeship and training programs, and projects that deliver real benefits to IBEW members and their communities.
