A very fun day four at our annual Chow Chow Reunion in Cherokee, North Carolina. After our noontime group photo, some of us visited the Angry Elk Brewing Company for wings and drinks.

If anyone has a metal detector, PLEASE bring it to the Lodge tomorrow, Tuesday, at 8:45 am.

If you have one but can't bring it down, please email me @ [email protected], and I will get it there for you.

The five person property committee will be at the lodge tomorrow morning to work. One project, if enough people attend, will be to take down the wire fence surrounding the current Lodge building.

Your help is needed and so greatly appreciated.

Anthony

Dear Parrish Lodge #2889 Members,

The Parrish property at 12242 81st Street East is ours.

Yesterday afternoon at 3:30 pm Ken and I received the key to the home from Paul Chapman. The almost sixteen month wait is over.

There is now a lot of work to be done. The first order of business is to cut the grass around the home to a level where we can walk on it without being bitten by bugs and/or snakes.

Ken King will be at the property on Tuesday at 9 am with a w**d wacker. If anyone is available on Tuesday morning and has equipment to cut and trim grass, please come down and lend us a hand.

Any and all help is appreciated.

Anthony

Today, August 26th, Parrish Lodge #2889 is two years old. Instituted on Saturday, August 26, 2023, I believe we have surpassed everyone's expectations. Our members are wholeheartedly invested in the Parrish Community, extremely supportive of our fellow seven Mighty Southwest District Lodges, strongly involved in the Florida State Elks Association's two major projects, and are passionately committed to the various Elks National Foundation's programs.
The list of accomplishments these past two years have been abundant. Giving to children in need, volunteering at local events, beautifying and maintaining historical sites, remembering and honoring Veterans who have fought for our freedom and bringing awareness to autism locally are just some of our achievements.
Our lodge members truly exemplify the Elks Mission Statement, to inculcate the principles of Charity, Justice, Brotherly Love and Fidelity; to recognize the belief in God; to promote the welfare and enhance the happiness of its members; to quicken the spirit of American patriotism and to cultivate good fellowship. We serve the people and communities through benevolent programs, demonstrating that Elks Care and Elks Share.
It's my honor being your Exalted Ruler these past two years and I look forward to our next chapter as a lodge, property in Parrish and increasing our membership.
One final note for those who read this post to the end,....as of the time of this post, our closing on the property is scheduled for tomorrow, Wednesday, August 27th.
Sincerely,
Anthony

Today twenty-four Parrish Lodge members were at the first ever Parrish Park Summerfest at the new Parrish Community Park. It was a very very hot day but that didn't stop couples and families from coming down to the park for some fun. There was a DJ for our listening pleasure, delicious food from the food trucks, twenty plus vendors, children's games, arts and crafts, a fire truck for children to step aboard, a water area, raffle baskets and more.

Jennifer Hamey, a fellow Parrish Elk, was one of the main organizers who did an absolutely fabulous job running this event. Jeff Egelston, another fellow Parrish Elk, was the engaging DJ, who kept the music flowing and even took a song request from Mike Carter. In addition, kudos to Norma Kennedy, Parrish Civic Association President, and the Parrish Civic Association Board Members who made this day fun for all.

I want to thank our Parrish Lodge members, including Jennifer and Jeff, who volunteered at the event. Thank you for being there during the day's heat. I especially want to thank Sharon Kline, Joe Kline and LeeAnn Mitchell for working at our membership tent while running a 50/50 raffle. It wasn't an easy job to do for five hours. Joe was truly amazing today, standing in front of the tent bringing people over to discuss what we are all about and why they should be a member. I also want to thank Sandee D'Abbraccio and Mary McQuoid for pitching in at the tent when needed. Lastly, I thank you Mary McQuoid for winning the 50/50 raffle then donating your portion back to the lodge's building fund.

This event was another day of exposure for our Lodge and all the good works that we do in this town. Today, I spoke to Dayna Camp, the organizer for the first ever Parrish Veterans Day Parade which will take place on Tuesday, November 11th. Dayna asked me if our Lodge Veterans would like to be in the parade and if our other members would be willing to volunteer that day in some other capacity. I replied in the affirmative. Parrish Lodge Veterans, I will be calling on you as we get closer to Veterans Day. We want to honor you and other Veterans on this special day.

Sincerely,

Anthony
