I know folks are probably wondering why there hasn't been anything for EDS Awareness month. It's been weighing on me for some time now and it's time for me to step away from running EDS Ohio, Inc in its current format. I'll be reaching out to the Secretary of State and closing our incorporated status. My board collapsed, due to the passing of my dear friend and guide father, Richard Riemenschneider and things I cannot publicly speak on with Bradley Kelly (other than to say he left the state and is no longer on the board). Therefore, we are no longer in compliance with the state and I accidentally missed a filing (because our treasurer had previously handled filings), which will come with a fee assessed to me personally, as we have always operated with a balance of $0. It's my fault for not checking the email and seeing the notice, so I accept the responsibility there.
I *WILL NOT* shut down the regional support group pages. However, I do ask for volunteers to help moderate, as I'm not able to handle all the physicians, resources and other connections by myself any longer.
I will not host any further Zoom meetings and will likely not do an in person meeting, unless they are social meet ups.
I will continue to post research and information. I'll help connect you with one of our regional groups or the all Ohio group.
I will do my best to assist in any critical situations with school accommodations, in patient advocacy, medical kidnappings and mental health crises.
It's been my greatest honor to positively impact so many lives starting with Medically Me, my interlude with EDS Awareness, and becoming EDS Ohio, Inc. with the help of Strengthening Connections, Inc. and EDS Wisconsin, Inc. Thank you for sharing your stories and being a part of the community.
This isn't goodbye, but is certainly a big change that comes with mixed emotions.
