Our very own board President, Patty Mason, judged the demonstration contest at the Hereford Jr Farm Fair this past Saturday and said the following:
“ I had the privilege to judge the Demonstration category at the Hereford Jr Farm Fair. We had an amazing group of participants demonstrating how to make horse treats, fruit salad, fresh salsa, hot Coco and a strawberry tower. It was an honor to see their creativity and their ability to speak in front of a live audience. Congrats to all the participants!”

One of our ongoing projects at FFLC is our sensory garden. Housed on The Farmyard property, the garden is ever growing and welcoming to everyone. Thank you to Candi Riddle for your vision, hard work and dedication to making the sensory garden a success.

You asked! We heard it.

We're now offering a winter version of our Chore Chart and Equine Programs on Thursdays beginning FEB 15. 📅

4+ activities may include feeding, barn clean up, and treat time.

6+ requires some heavier lifting with cleaning stalls, grooming, tack prep, etc.

Since we are a fairly new organization and we are gearing up for our 1st event for The Farmyard's opening day tomorrow, we would like to reintroduce ourselves and tell you a little about us. The Farmyard Friends Learning Center is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit committed to connecting our rural community and students to the agricultural environment through our natural resources of land and farm animals. Based at the same location as The Farmyard, we are about to build and expand our Rare Breeds program and work towards providing experiences based around the principles of community, conservation and education.

Farmyard Friends Learning Center is a completely volunteer run organization that has been nearly 2 years in the making. FFLC consists of 5 board members:

Patty Mason, FFLC's founder and president
Trevor Forr, vice president and unofficial IT guy
April VanderVeer, secretary and currently acting as director
Jeremy Riddle, treasurer
Lisa Rasch Smith, board member

Aside from juggling the the day to day work of running the nonprofit, board members have full time jobs, families and other volunteer work. This is where we rely on the community for help. Here's what you can do:

-Spread the Word
Share our page, invite friends and family to our events, help us connect with other local agricultural organizations

-Donate
All of our programs are run from donations and grants. The first few years of any nonprofit is about establishment and maintenance. We are hopeful that we can exceed our expectations and expand on our programming in the near future.

-Participate
Participate in our events and programs. Not only does this help with funding, but it helps to build our presence in the community.

-Volunteer
As we become more established and add more to our calendar, we will be looking to many volunteers to help in a variety of ways.

Tomorrow will be our 1st event of the year at The Farmyard's opening day and egg hunt. We will be set up near Jumanji, star of our Rare Breeds program. We will have information about our mission, volunteer sign ups, registration for our upcoming 5K, a raffle basket, activities for the kids and friendly faces to talk with. Please come and introduce yourself and see what Farmyard Friends Learning Center is all about!

We have been busy stuffing "surprise eggs" to help raise money for the Farmyard Friends Learning Center. Come see us on Saturday at The Farmyard 's opening day. We'll have a raffle basket as well where you can win a riding lesson with Jumanji, the inaugural animal for our rare breeds program. Aside from the fun and prizes, you'll have a chance to talk to our board members to see what we are all about and even sign up to become a volunteer.
