On August 10, 2026, Delmarva Toastmasters Club was invited by the Office of Residence Life - University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) and Clifton Harcum CEO of Live Now to speak to approximately 90 new and incoming Resident Assistants (RAs) at UMES in Princess Anne MD. Mr. Michael Hoy also of Dynamic Leadership and Debedeavon clubs presented a formal structured speech while Mr. Dennis Lawson presented an informal speech both around communication and leadership which is important to the RA's positions. Ms. Terri Patterson also of Debedeavon Toastmasters and Dynamic Leadership clubs presented a round of table topics (impromptu speaking). Terri Patterson was elected as the newest officer of Debedeavon Club at the club meeting on August 4, 2026. She is now also the Vice President of Public Relations.

Next chance for improving your public speaking is this next Tuesday July 21 at 6 pm via Zoom. Message for link. We follow an agenda with at least one speaker and evaluate that speaker for such things as filler words, grammar and time. We also practice impromptu speaking.
