I have made the following in response to the BPCA asking about the By-Laws and the Board has read it but would not share with the membership. Please share anywhere you can. thanks
Hi I am not a voting member but you seem to ask for input from the
General membership
I would like to see the membership more involved with the club as in a
rare breed everyone should be welcome and included, I really have no
Idea of why the board deems it necessary to block membership from many
long time and involved breeders as I think we can offer a lot to the
Club. It seems at the very least some sort of reason for the denial be
stated.
I really would like to have the vote that is coming up at the National
go out to the membership as so few attend Nationals
so would love to see proposed that any membership that is denied
should then go out to the entire membership and I think that would
get many more involved. Any changes to make it easier to join the
club would be very helpful to the Club. Thanks For your time

Welcome to the Picard Health Database

Picardhealth Database hopes to be a collection of health and pedigree information on Berger Picards worldwide. We have started by adding pedigree information on all the Picards we could find and are adding all OFA and other health information on those dogs. We hope to have complete information on the breed for years and very excited to start with such a rare breed. It is open and free for everyone to use. The information is designed to be of use to owners, breeders and researchers to identify and reduce the incidence of disease in Berger Picards.
 We are a recording database for purebred Berger Picards. The main purpose of our database is to collect and disseminate information that has been voluntarily submitted by owners and breeders which we have gone to great lengths to verify as accurate. It is the responsibility of owners and breeders to use the data responsibly.
 Most of the data is provided through voluntary submission of information by owners wishing to do their part to improve the future health of the breed. To insure the information is as accurate as possible, we have a worldwide team of data operators who check and verify much of the information before it is allowed to be visible in the database. Only by having extremely accurate information can science effectively utilize the data.
 In addition to owner submitted information, Database imports health data from The Orthopedic Foundation for Animals (OFA) on a quarterly basis and utilizes the AKC web site to verify information when possible. We occasionally get data feeds from other external databases that we may import if our analysis shows the information to be accurate. Our goal is to have the most comprehensive and accurate collection of information on Berger Picards available anywhere
We welcome the opportunity to assist scientific researchers in their efforts to improve the health of Berger Picards.

How Can I Help?
Make sure your dog is in the Picard Health Database
 If you or your dog is not in the database, make sure you submit the information. We include owner information in the event we need additional confirmation of information. Your contact information may be specified as private so it does not appear to the general public. The database takes precautions to prevent your name from being discovered by Internet search engines.
 Do health certifications on your dogs like hip and elbow x-rays. Even if your dog is not going to be used for breeding, doing these certifications provides everyone with a more complete picture of the litter the dog was from as well as the breed in general.
 Submit as much general health information as you can to the database. This includes behavioral issues as well as illnesses or diseases you dog contracts or is treated for. Copies of veterinary reports or pathology reports really help document things for scientists and are most appreciated.
 When your dog dies, please provide as much information to database as possible. We understand that this will likely be a very emotional time for you and there is no need to rush getting this data in. However, don't let it go so long that you end up forgetting to submit the information.
 Breeders, please submit all the litters you breed to the database and encourage all your puppy owners to keep the information on their puppy updated.
 Owners, please keep all information on the dogs you own updated.
Everyone, please consider donating to the Picard Health foundation. Contributions are our only source of funding. Money is used to support the technology necessary to support those programs. We now accept credit cards via PayPal so you can do this easily, right online. Your donations are tax deductible!
 Picard Health foundation is a not for profit 501(c)(3) organization that depends on donations to keep our programs vibrant and active. Donations are tax deductible to the fullest extent of the law. For more info on donating to Picard Health please see the donations page. The Foundation is managed by a board of volunteer trustees . Hi I just wanted to let you know that we just received our 5013C status from the IRS so all donations are fully deductible .
I have to say that I am really disappointed that so few Picard people have any interest in sending in their information, If any of you know anyone that you can influence it would be great as this is only useful if we get health data, etc on the dogs.
Also I was so looking forward to introducing it at the National but as things are all canceled, maybe next year. Thanks

For all all the picard owners out there We need your photo's and dog info. This database is only good if everyone uses it and if you are having problems please email me and I can walk you all through it use, very easy once you get the hang of it and will be important to track health , etc for the breed. Lets not wait until we have a real problem like what happened to Bernese 30 some years ago with cancer and then everyone got involved. THANKS
