Dirty Bird Wrestling Club is a PreK-8th organization to encourage younger children to learn the sport of wrestling and become future wrestlers!

Dirty Bird Wrestling Club is a Preschool through 8th grade organization spawned from the AP/GC Schools Wrestling program. Our goal is to encourage younger children to learn the sport of wrestling and train them as future wrestlers!

The DBWC held a meeting last night to discuss this season.

Many things have happened since the end of last season. We are choosing not to go into all of those details, however, due to actions taken, we have made the extremely difficult decision to suspend the club through this wrestling season. We will also not be hosting any tournaments this year. This decision did not come easy. We are heartbroken.

Does this mean DBWC is done for good? No! It means we are taking time to determine the best direction to go. That's all. We want to be the best we can be for our coaches, our wrestlers, and our community. We have some big goals, and just need some time to work them all out. We hope you come along for the ride. The DBWC has been a part of the community for 20+ years. That's a strong foundation. We are proud of that foundation and want nothing more than to see the structure built on that foundation succeed.

If you are looking for recommendations on options for your wrestler(s) in the meantime, please feel free to reach out.

If you'd like a singlet for your kiddo to wrestle in, we will be selling the old singlets we have for $20 each. These are not the DBWC ones, but do say AP on them.

SINGLET TURN IN DEADLINE IS TODAY!!!

We are still waiting on quite a few to be returned. Please make arrangements to get them turned in. Bills will be sent via mail on Monday morning.

Just a reminder to everyone who has not yet turned in their singlets!!

Singlets are due to be returned by Thursday, March 20th! If you do not have yours turned in to Kamie Shepard or Whitnee 'Schmitt' Beenken by that date, we will be sending out bills for the cost of the replacement. If you are unable to get your singlet to us by that time, please reach out to one of us and let us know so we can set something else up with you!

The DBWC board would like to congratulate Zion Uhlenhopp on his 6th plce finish and Logan Deike on his AAU State appearance! You both represented us very well this past weekend! :-)

A thank you goes out to both coach Bobby Ayers and coach Jake Everts for being in the boys' corner this weekend. All your hard work this season is very much appreciated!

STATE SHIRTS WILL BE AVAILABLE FOR PICKUP AT THE END OF PRACTICE TONIGHT!!! If you are unable to get them, please reach out to Justin Uhlenhopp to make other arrangements.

IMPORTANT IMPORTANT IMPORTANT

There will be NO PRACTICE on Thursday, February 20th. We encourage you to take your wrestlers to Des Moines to cheer on our 4 high school wrestlers! All four qualifiers were Dirty Bird wrestlers that trained under coach Calley and we are very proud of them.

Post season practices will continue as normal next Monday and will go thru until p*e wee state.

Our end of the year banquet will be held Saturday, March 15th. Watch for an event to be posted later today!

Lastly, anyone that has a wrestler that is in 6th grade, please post below!! Unfortunately our system messed up and didn't ask for grades and we want to make sure we don't miss anyone for end of the year gifts.

Our Story

The Dirty Bird Wrestling club otherwise known as DBWC, is a club created by wrestling lovers many years ago. The club is for wrestlers preK age 4 through 8th grade. The club is coached by volunteer coaches and organized by a board of volunteers. Our mission is to provide a place for youth to learn the fundamentals and winning techniques of wrestling and to learn self discipline and respect in the process. We believe that all are motivated by accomplishment no matter how big or how small that WIN is! Do your best and be your best!

The Club started as a free club many years ago in an apartment downtown Parkersburg. The Club then ventured to practicing at the highschool and now new in 2020/2021 season for the first time in Club history the Dirty Birds will be renting thier own facility and have thier own purchased mats. The Club would not be where it is today without the continued support fomr the members, local and surrounding business sponsors, and other supporters. Thank you all so much for believing in our club.
