Our Musical Theatre Competition was held today at the historic Smoot Theatre in Parkersburg, WV. Congratulations to our winners-
First Place winner Christian Clausnitzer (WVU) will represent our chapter at the national competition in March. Willow Peyton (St. Mary's HS, WV) was our second place contestant, and third place was awarded to Ellie Yeater (Marietta College).

Today's meeting featured entertainment from the Actors Guild of Parkersburg --- the Sound of Music opens Friday, November 18th and runs for three weekends.

Thank you to Chris Lewis (Captain Von Trapp), Ellie Yeater (Maria), and accompanist and musical director Marsha Parsons for performing three selections from the show, including leading us in Edelweiss.

NSAL-ORV member David Rexroad directs the show, Erin Augenstein is choreographer, and Karen Parlett is a member of the cast as a nun.

Before last evening's The American Pops performance at Peoples Bank Theatre , NSAL-ORV members Geoff Coward, Erin Augenstein and Chapter President Carol Pitkin presented Maestro Luke Frazier with an Honorary Membership to NSAL-ORV in appreciation of his dedication to supporting young artists as they work to become professionals in visual, fine and performing arts.

We took NSAL-ORV "out of the box" today, and became our own entertainment with a casual painting party at The Watering Can Art Studio, Vienna, WV and lunch at the Olive Garden. Thank you to Mary for leading us in our painting, and to our members for being willing to try something completely different!

Applications are now available for the 2022 National Society of Arts and Letters' Piano Competition. Pianists between the ages of 18 and 32, who are residents of OH or WV are eligible for this opportunity to gain recognition and earn up to $15,000 in prize money.
Complete and submit the application below by March 1st, then be prepared to perform 3 complete works by the Chapter competition on March 12th. Prizes of between $500 and $1,000 will be awarded from the Ohio River Valley Chapter, and our chapter finalist will compete for national recognition and a $15,000 top prize on May 18th, in Chicago.

We're looking for young visual artists, ages 16-22 to enter the NSAL Winston Visual Art Scholarships. The scholarship funds are for private study, special training or personal advancement in the applicants’ chosen art fields. The funds can be used for college tuition and required art supplies, but not for housing, travel or personal expenses.

In most years, as many as eight to ten scholarships are awarded in varying amounts.

In honor of Naomi Rabb Winston, NSAL established an annual scholarship fund for young visual artists between the ages of 16 and 22. Applicants must demonstrate exceptional talent and promise of future success. The scholarship funds are only for private study, for special training or for personal adv
